The question usually comes up what was your inspiration for this book? Often I sidestep this question with one of the many truths, I'm a writer and I need to tell stories. This book is special to me. It speaks to a situation that I've seen stereotyped for too long.
Sadonna Alston the main character in my new release is a woman who from an early age has had the responsibility of working to take care of her family. She not only does that she finds a way to become an entrepreneur.
I think it's important for young women to know that there are successful women out there who took care of family and made a success of their lives. Helping your family out doesn't doom you to poverty. Instead, we should teach that it helps build discipline and perseverance.
